2. Determine your eligibility

4. Visit the doctor

Consider whether or not you are eligible. If you have been diagnosed with any of the conditions that are listed as qualifying conditions in Puerto Rico.

Schedule an appointment and visit the doctor for your evaluation. Talk about your condition and why you think medical marijuana might be helpful to you.

If the doctor thinks your case is valid, you’ll get the authorization necessary to apply for a Medical Cannabis license in Puerto Rico.

 

Doctor’s fees may vary from $50 to $100.

1. Fill out the formulary

Once the licensed Doctor evaluates your condition, you’ll receive a recommendation which will be needed to request a Medical Cannabis License.

2. Visit a Lawyer

All patients who wish to apply for a medical cannabis license, must fill an application form according to Puerto Rico Department of Health and must be certified by an authorized notary.

3. Submit your application, pay a fee

You are required to pay a $25.00 dollars fee. This will be paid to the Secretary of Hacienda in Puerto Rico. to receive your license.

4. Wait for your card

Once you finish your paperwork you should wait for your license to arrive in the mail

5. Always carry your medical license

Always carry your medical cannabis license with you . You are not authorized to buy medical cannabis if you aren’t carrying your medical license , you need it at all times.

6. Visit a dispensary

Once you receive your medical cannabis license card, you are authorized to buy medical cannabis at the dispensary you previously selected.

Once the licensed Doctor evaluates your condition, you’ll receive a recommendation which will be needed to request a Medical Cannabis License.

Puerto Rico Law also requires to fill out a formulary from the Department of Health of Puerto Rico.

This formulary must include a certification from a lawyer or public notary.

2. Visit a Lawyer

The lawyer/notary will certify the medical recommendation.

All patients who wish to apply for a medical cannabis license, must fill an application form according to Puerto Rico Department of Health and must be certified by an authorized notary.

Also you will pay a fee to the the lawyer that’s handling your paperwork.

The fee ranges may vary.

3. Submit your application, pay a fee

You are required to pay a $25.00 dollars fee. This will be paid to the Secretary of Hacienda in Puerto Rico. to receive your license.

4. Wait for your card

Remember never try to purchase medical cannabis until you receive your license, even if your paperwork is approved.

Once you finish your paperwork you should wait for your license to arrive in the mail, In case you don’t receive your license in two months contact the Puerto Rico Health Department at 787-765-2929 ext 3505/3504.

5. Always carry your medical license

Always carry your medical cannabis license with you .

You are not authorized to buy medical cannabis if you aren’t carrying your medical license , you need it at all times.


Avoid any problems with the Puerto Rico law enforcement and always follow the rules.

6. Visit a dispensary

Once you receive your medical cannabis license card, you are authorized to buy medical cannabis at the dispensary you previously selected.

Trying to obtain medical cannabis through another sources, it’s considerate a violation of Puerto Rico’s law and is punishable by law.
